Mike Walker, driving through the leafy suburbs of Johannesburg, is hijacked by two men with nothing left to lose. He survives the attack, barely escaping with his life, only to realise the hijacking was just the start of his troubles. Mike faces a choice ? go on the run, or watch the people dearest to him picked off one-by-one. If he runs, he knows the road will likely take him to a place where darkness lurks, an abyss that consumes everything, even the innocent.
And so begins a bloody chase from the gritty streets of Jo?burg, to the far-flung corners of the Kalahari Desert. It is a road along which all travellers must question what they are running from, and ultimately decide if the destination is not worse than the danger coming down the road.
