Review

‘My first Tim Davies book superb reading enjoyed the storyline covering the life of the main character Davey Reagan in both London and Spain, hopefully more books to come from Tim

Davies highly recommend this book’. – Kev Dilks

‘Really enjoyed the book, spent a week in the Malaga region this summer, made some of the places mentioned in the book very real’. – Jan

‘A cracking story. I’m not a Londoner, but caught the atmosphere from a writer who obviously knows his way around. Thought the period details around the central character growing up were superb and there is obviously a good ear for dialogue at work. Would love to see this filmed. Good stuff’. – R Thuber

‘A fast paced crime thriller which manages to keep you rooting for a low life chancer. This debut novel is very well paced and the characters are nicely drawn, throughout the macabre tale I found myself wondering why I was still rooting for Davey but I was right up until the breakneck climax’. – Danny

Synopsis

A cross continental crime thriller set in London and Cadiz. Plenty of dark humour, accidents, chaos, murder, mystery, deceit and twists.

Davey Regan is an only child, born to southern Irish immigrants in the mid 60’s. They live in Kentish Town, North West London.

He grows up in the 70’s and is a mischievous character who makes his own entertainment along with his best mate Dean Bell. The story begins with their teenage exploits and secrets that they keep between themselves for years to come.

As Regan gets older he involves himself in petty crime and small time drug dealing in the West End and Camden Town, but it’s not the laid-back tourist hub that most people know. His world is the back street pubs and underground activities of it’s shady low life.

Everyone is Regan’s friend but he knows that cannot be true, it’s just the nature of his business.

In his twenties Regan’s best mate has moved to Wales he meets a girl and starts to settle down, they have a child together.

One man’s bad luck can be another man’s good fortune.

Regan gets into serious trouble; his life turns into a horror show. He’s on the run, his only chance of survival is to disappear.

He moves to Spain with his partner and son. Nobody knows Regan in Andalucia, he tries to put his past life behind him.

Life in the sun is good, they renovate an old house that is left to them by his partner’s grandfather, but soon the money begins to run out.

Regan’s partner becomes entangled in her employers personal affairs and realises that there is a very dark side to her bosses husband. He tries to take advantage of her but she’s too smart and bitter revenge comes his way. Her actions play the couple off against each other with dramatic consequences far beyond her initial wishes. Regan is blasé to these events until things get serious, this is when his opportunist nature takes over. His actions land them in serious danger with people they hadn’t realised were involved. They are both in over their heads, their lives are on the line and they have to flee the country.

They return to the only place they know: London.

On the opposite side of the city, they move to the East End. His partner starts a new business and Regan begins to work as a mini-cab driver. Regan knows he has to keep quiet, he stays away from North London and doesn’t contact anyone. Fate deals him a rum hand and his past indirectly catches up with him.

A meeting with someone he tries to help, is going to turn into one of his worst nightmares. Regan is blackmailed, he tells his partner he must return to Spain to sell their house, she doesn’t know he is also now employed as minder. His new employer is unpredictable and has an unhealthy fondness for alcohol and cocaine. Regan travels to Spain, he tries to convince himself that everything will be ok until he is introdu
