Borvo, son of Albiorix, wakes up on the forest floor after a night on the ground with his father?s warriors. He is a 19-year-old son of a Celtic warlord. A strange enemy has been marching through the land and killing their people. Albiorix, Borvo?s father, leading a band of his warriors against them and planning an ambush. He has brought Borvo on the expedition to get him hardened in battle and ready to succeed him as chief.
Borvo is also eager to make a warrior out of himself as well. To test his manhood, Albiorix sends him across a steep ravine as daylight is fading. His destination is the camp of Brennus, his father?s cousin. Borvo is to relay Albiorix?s battle plans to Brennus and follow him into battle the next day. What will the enemy be like when they appear the next day? Who will they be? Will Borvo kill and become a warrior or will he die?
