How Often Do You Reread Books?

How often do you reread books? There are some books that I reread at least once a year, if not more. I get stuck in ruts though, I'm the same way with television shows. Does everyone else do this too? If you do, what books do you reread the most?

There are several I have read a couple of times over the years. However, one in particular I have read at least six times. That is This Present Darkness by Peretti. There's just something about this book that makes so much sense to me. Other Christians I know have a difficult time with the book and some are scared to read it. I have plans to start it again very soon.

I do it fairly often when it's a fantastic book that I really enjoyed. I usually try to pass on my physical books to someone else who I think will enjoy it, but I reread my digital books all the time.

When I was younger I used to reread The Secret Garden all the time. It was my happy place. Now though, there's so much new material that I tend not to go back. I did let Jim Dale reread the Harry Potter series to me a couple years ago, but the last book I reread was an accident. I didn't realize until I got toward the end that I'd already read it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this Jordan. I reread the whole book and kept thinking this really sounds familiar. I'm still not sure when I read it but I know I did. It just drives me nuts when I do something like this.

The Secret Garden is such a great book! It always made me sad though. Hogwarts is one of my happy places and I love Jim Dale, so that's one of my frequent repeats.

I've never accidentally reread a book before. Well, I guess sometimes I have but I noticed it sooner than the end.

  7. I did it just last month when I was up to my eyeballs in projects and totally forgot I'd already read the book the year before. By the time I realized what I was up to I figured I might as well finish it. AGAIN!

Haha! How long did it take you to figure out? I hope it ended up being worth finishing for the second time. That's usually when I enjoy re-reading books the most - when my brain is already running wild with everything else going on in life.

Not often. Less you count Terry Pratchett. Read the whole lot several times now.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Half the time I don't remember the ending so it's a bit like a rediscovery, but I find it jarring to have forgotten. I only make that mistake with digital books at least.

Pratchett is one of those authors I enjoy re-reading if only to catch all the things I missed the first time round.

I've got three or four authors I'll re-read now and again, but usually a few years apart and mainly heavy duty fantasy trilogies. they always seem to come in threes...

Accidentally re-reading a book sounds like something I would do. I guess the book would have to have been really boring for me to not remember reading it. I do like to read my Harry Potter series twice a year or so. I love those books so much I'm sure I'll be reading them well into old age.
