My daughter just started school and she loves to spend her time reading. She has already gone through all the books she has and is worrying me for more. She likes the Dr Seuss series of books and I would like to find other authors with a similar style. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What about Shel Silverstein? I know people who think they are a little old style, but she may love them. Your local library may have some, or you could ask them for ideas as well.

I take my daughter to the library and let her decide for herself. We have found lots of good books that way and I have discovered some new authors as well. Kids normally judge books by the cover and the library is a great place for them to discover new books and authors.

I will always, always recommend the library. Children's librarians are pretty great and always know the best books. I can't guarantee these are available in the UK but a few I can think of are:

The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors by Drew Daywalt Illustrated by Adam Rex
Lulu and Lainey...a French Yarn by by Lois Petren
The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen
The Legend of Ninja, Cowboy, and Bear by David Burris

Shel Silverstein is also a great suggestion and another classic standby. Have fun finding new stories to share!

Yes! A Kindle is a great idea. We have a Kindle and there are so many books out there that you can borrow for free. They even have some new books that have animation to them that help keep kids interested in the story. My daughter has several books on the Kindle. I didn't think of suggesting the Kindle, great idea jessica.
