New ebook reader - Inkbook

I've been invited to a demo of a new ebook reader today at 10:30, so it could be quite interesting. I did get a quick look yesterday though ;)

It's called the inkbook, and it takes epub and pdf, possibly .mobi as well. Books it seems have to be side-loaded as it isn't linked to a site, but it has a great e-ink screen, and my initial impressions were favourable. The best part is the battery life: weeks, not hours.

The good part is that it works with Windows, Linux, and Mac. The bad part is that it is Android with apps, but you can't have everything. I'll be asking a few pointed questions on privacy later.

If it is something that can take Amazon and Kobo books sideloaded, some of our reviewers should take a look at this. At 79euros this is not cheap though.

...and now I see the thread.

    $79 = 79 Euros = £79 after exchange rates.

However a device that will talk to anything and take Kobo and Amazon straight sounds like an interesting idea and a good e-ink screen will last ages.

I guess it won't be playing videos, but if it will take memory cards as well, you could years worth of books on to it and e-ink screens are always easier to read than the ones they tend to use these days.

Hmm, may go and look this one up.

This sounds really good. Is it in stores yet and do you know where could I get one, or even get a look at one?

They said that it is available through Amazon, but they are still looking for an actual store to stock it.

    They're on there.

£69 for the classic version and £119 for the Prime version.

    and pretty shiny as well.

Inkbook- first time I am hearing about this. I have been thinking of buying kindle reader but now I will check this out. Is it out in the market and is it available internationally?

As far as I have seen, it is available internationally through Amazon only at the moment. It is made in Poland, so it is certainly available across the EU. I have to say, I am intrigued. It seems far thinner and lighter than my kindle.

Kinda pricy, but cheaper than a kobo & a kindle. Maybe when mine breaks...

Only thing it gives me is a shiny new toy and the ability to get yet more electronic books, only this time from Kobo and other stores.

How many books can this hold, and is the storage expandable?
