RIP Shelfari

    It seems the big three reader's sites of Goodreads, Shelfari, and Librarything are now the big two. Shelfari users have two months to move to Goodreads.

    I didn't use Shelfari, but while this makes good business sense for Amazon I can't help but think that it is not so good for readers. Everyone encounters books in different ways and all the sites were distinct, as were the communities. I hope the Shelfari users are able to keep their community together on their new sites.

    I'd guess most of them will wind up joining one of the other sites.
