Stephen once bookmarked XKCD in my browser, one of the times he decided he was going to walk across my keyboard.

I also remember that phone call and voicemail as well.

One incident that comes to mind was when he learned to use deadbolts and locked us outside. We knew he knew how to use them and it wasn't an accident when he then tried to lift the bolt to let us back in. We could see him trying through the window, only for poor Stephen to give up and start wailing because it was too heavy for him. CIAS had to crawl in through the window to unlock the door from the inside so I could get back in.

After it happened again we changes the bolts to ones he couldn't pull. Same reason we changed the taps from ones with levers that could be head-butted on...

Isn't he the cat that attacked a fox to save a kitten?

Thank you all for sharing so much about Stephen. It sounds like tirial's cat was one of a kind!

What wonderful stories. No wonder Stephen was so beloved. He sounds like a fantastic cat if a little ornery at times.

Thanks, Ellie for asking the question.

We're seriously wondering about having him removed and reburied here. The standards at the graveyard are ridiculously low, and the person next to his is in breach of their requirements (they've added solar musical floodlights to that grave which trigger when we visit him) which the graveyard manager won't ask them to remove.

    Solar. Musical. Floodlights.

I'm sure someone thought it was a good idea but I cannot see how.

Sorry to hear that, it can't be good if you visit and have those there.

Stephen must have been a well loved cat with plenty of character. Reminds me of Dewey Readmore Books. He was quite the character too and was know world wide. If I were you I would re-bury him close just to keep an eye on the grave and its surroundings.
