I know that there are a lot of classic "must-reads" that have been on my list for years. Like War and Peace, Wuthering Heights, and Middlemarch are books I've always meant to read but just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. What about you all?

Oh, I adore Wuthering Heights. it's worth a read if you can find the time. I couldn't put it down. I've always meant to read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It's still on the bucket list.

I'm ashamed to say I've never read any Jane Austen. I have a beautiful copy of Pride and Prejudice that I received as a gift but I've never gotten around to reading it.

Ellie Jane, I've heard great things about it which is why it's always been on the list. It seems like the kind of book I'd love but for some reason I get distracted every single time I try to start it. Oh, The Great Gatsby is one of my absolute favorites! It's a quick, easy read to in comparison to some other the other classics out there.

Jordan, I've never read anything by her either. I know I should read Pride and Prejudice but it's just never been high on my list for some reason. Maybe that's because I feel like I already know the story well enough. Then again, I don't have a beautiful copy sitting around waiting to be read.

Wuthering Heights is on my list along with The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. Has anyone read this? It came highly recommended by a friend. I did read Gone with the Wind and Scarlett. Both were excellent reads.

There's probably a whole set of American classics I've missed out on.

Actually, Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain springs to mind. Read the first chapter a few timers, seen a few clips from TV, never read the entire book and probably should do so.

Terry, it seems like Tom Sawyer gets all the attention, but Huck Finn is much better. I read it a few times for school, and I always enjoyed it. Though, my favorite of Mark Twain's is Pudd'nhead Wilson.

Donna, I've never even heard of The Thorn Birds, I'll have to give that one a look. I absolutely adore Gone with the Wind.

Jordan, Huck Finn is actually more popular in the classroom than Tom Sawyer but I think Tom gets more attention because it doesn't blatantly talk about slavery and racism like Huck does. That makes it an easier sell for younger crowds.
