I haven't even started, although to be fair I've spent most of the last four days, including the weekend, fighting with a Windows install and work has to come first.

Windows install can be a real pain when it wants to be. I hope you ended up winning that battle. I've been fighting with the everlasting battle dirty house vs. me. My parents are coming here tomorrow and my mom is the biggest clean freak ever. Still, I try to get a bit of writing done here and there if I can. It hasn't come to much so far though.

Whatever you write during NaNo is a success, because you may not have written it otherwise. I've had a few bad writing days since my last post and am still about a day behind. There's a lot of November left though.

I'm trying my hand at romance this year. Putting them in awkward situations is fun, but I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot.

As of this morning I've now written 35,000 words this November. Sadly it is on documentation and not my novel, but at least I am writing something.

Jordan, that sounds like a lot of fun! I wish I could write romance - I always get oddly prudish when I'm trying to write any kind of "steamy" scene. I don't know why that is, haha. I guess I just feel awkward. I need to work on my romance skills though; I feel like I always treat them like a fifteen-year-old boy. Not very fun to read when you're actually trying to sell a romance!

Does anyone else have that problem, by the way? I always find the opposite gender (in my case, male) to be a more comfortable writing voice for me. I think it's from years of doing Harry Potter roleplay as male characters.

Tirial, that's amazing! Pft, who cares if it's about documentation? Like you said, you're writing something and that's what counts!

That counts in my book. Is your documentation writing for work? You've probably mentioned it and I've just missed the post. It's quite remarkable that you've written so much before we've hit the halfway mark in November!

Natalie, I have the same problem. I don't want to appear either too knowledgeable or too naive! So at the moment, it's a sugary, sweet contemporary romance. It could always change though.

That's awesome. I'm hovering just over 16,000 which means I need to stop visiting forums and start writing!

It's such a fine line and a challenging one at that. Sugary, sweet seems like a good route to go. If you get the urge to go for steamy, then it shouldn't be too out of place...I wouldn't think!

Aww nuts. It's halfway through November already.

Grand total of words: less than 500. I need to pick a different idea.

Ugh, real life took over for me and I was able to get all of 5,000 words done. Another Nano fail to put in my records. I hope everyone else had better luck!

Where has November gone? Tonight I plan to write my final 2,500-ish words. It'll be my second win in the six or so years I've been doing NaNo. I'm so excited!

Did you manage it? I didn't:oops:. Life gets in the way.

Jessica, yes I did! It only took six years to win for the second time. ::rofl::

That does happen. Everyone who participated should be proud of what they accomplished in November. I know how hard that is when you hope to hit 50,000 or so, but even in the years I didn't win, I either learned an idea might not be the right one or at least got something started.

Congratulations, Jordan! I am throwing you the biggest party in my head right now. (PS. You're having a great time there.)

Yeah, it happens, and while I got to find out some things about what I'm writing, I wish I'd gotten to do more...and maybe learned more than "Hey, that doesn't really work," but alas, all part of the process, right?

Nano...oh yeah, no deal for me this year.

Congrats Jordan, glad to hear you made it. :)

    Thanks, Natalie and Kindler.

Now I have to decide how to proceed with it. It ended up changing as I went along and is a bit out of order. I have to decide if it's worth the time to try and straighten it out or what. Probably best left to January though.
