Amazon Coins?

    Ok what are Amazon coins? o_O I got a new kindle and now the app store keeps saying I can save money using them? Are they like Bitcoin or something?::unsure::

    Far as I can see the coins'r like giftcards only crapper 'cos you have to spend whole coins at once. Bill's half a coin? Tough luck.

    I think Amazon coins are useful when they are offered for free through a promotion, or they're used to trigger a discount on a game pack or something else that the buyer already wanted. That's about it.

    This is the first time I've heard of Amazon Coins but I suppose that's because I don't do much with Amazon Apps. The only benefit I can see from it is maybe to set an allowance of sorts for in-app purchases.

    I have never heard of someone using Amazon coins or even of their existence. What are they? Are they for any Amazon purchases or just in-app ones?
