You have been attacked by a grue. It eats you. Then it spits you out and wanders off muttering about the taste. A dead end. You turn round to go back, but as you look behind you the path has changed.

You have found a book, open on top of a pile on the floor.[IMG]

There is a smiley on the wall. A letter J is inscribed beneath it. The corridor branches off.

Hidden among the stacks is a reading room with comfortable chairs and coffee just made. A book lies open inviting on the table. The corridor branches off.

A bookworm pokes its head out of a book and watches you suspiciously as you pass. The corridor branches off.

A cat's purr echoes among the stacks, but look as you might, you can't see it. A bookcase hangs open, showing a hidden passage.

I can't imagine why. A cat's purr is nothing unusual in your home.

Locked in a glass display case, on a plush cushion, lies a tome. There is a small plaque beneath it reading 'this was a really good book'.

I would highly recommend this novella to anyone who wants a thoughtful, intelligent Sci-Fi story which cleverly takes a position that everyone can relate to and neatly expands upon it.
There is a door on the wall, ajar.

True - on some days you can never escape a purr
