Just a general thought for the board. We're now getting a lot of authors asking for reviews who haven't submitted their books to the site. The queue is up in the hundreds, Reader is snowed under as you might have noticed during the bookchats (her reviews on the site now extend to June) Angel has little time to write them up, and RhymeHunter only reviews poetry.

Are there any club members who'd be willing to start writing reviews to take some of the load off, or are the weekly discussions enough? Otherwise should we start getting more reviewers on board to handle the extra requests?

Please, please for the love of all that is holy, please.

I had such high hopes of keeping my New Year's Resolution. But alas, no

We need more for the free books, OK, & I'm the first to admit I'm great at opinions but not great at writing. For the rest of them if they ain't putting the book on the site, do we really care? Have to ask, because they're not exactly offering anything to the readers or site in return for the review are they?

Sorry I can't do your IT and review for the site, although I'll happily keep doing the support. I've seen the queue of book review requests for books not featured on Bookangel. Seriously, you need help. There are a couple more every day, and it stretches back into November.

There are a few boards you could ask on. I'll have a word and drop you a note.

Thanks for the PM. If you can find anyone, please do. The big problem is that we can't pay. Things are tight enough as it is.

If we did find anyone, could we have a volunteer to manage getting the books out to the reviewers? I don't think we'll be lucky enough to get everyone in one area.

ETA: tirial, I thought they only allowed writers to sign up?

I've dropped them a note. Let's see if they reply.

Between us, I and CIAS could probably manage your incoming queue. CIAS, are you up for that?

If you can get more reviewers please do. I've added another batch of micro reviews to clear some space, but my queue is still ridiculously long. We are now solidly scheduled with reviews through until April 20th, with one a week from then until September, and I still have a review queue of over a hundred books.

More reviewers would be a very good idea but I'm not volunteering, because of the possible conflict of interest.

tirial, apparently there's a problem with the board you suggested. Could you get in touch?

I looked into it, and Vi already wrote back. It looks like they thought our accounts were the same beacuse you used our network to register. This is common problem with US sites because the US uses static IPs and assume that an IP is locked to one computer. In the UK where IPs rotate, are locked to ISPs not users, and one IP address is locked to a network not PC, it doesn't work. (I've had a case where a college had one IP and a certain large US site that should have known better started each year by combining the accounts of the entire new intake of students. It took some explaining to convince them that one external IP = a T10 line and four computer labs.)
