Twitter Pitch Party

Discussion in 'Writer's Lounge' started by C. Lee McKenzie, 10 Jan 2018.

  1. Hi Writers,
I mentioned in another thread that I'd successfully pitched a manuscript on a Twitter Pitch last year. I won't be pitching again this year, but if you're interested the Insecure Writers Support Group is hosting another Pitch Party. Lots of agents and publishers on board.

Details are HERE if you're interested.

Thanks for sharing! This looks amazing. I have a couple things I would love to pitch but haven't done so because, well, the name of the group says it all. I'm going to try and toughen up and give this a shot. It seems like a nice way to do it without having to face a bunch of criticism.

  3. That's great. I'll be moderating this time, so I'll look for you and give you some RT's. They help to keep your pitch fresh. Good luck.

Aw, thank you so much! That's really sweet of you. The pressure is on now! That's so cool that you're a moderator. What kind of stuff do you have to do in that position?

  5. I remind people about the rules. Some forget and post images in their tweets or tweet too frequently. You can check out the rules on the IWSG site to be sure. Will you be tweeting under natalie? I want to be sure to recognize your twitter name because I think there are going to be tons of tweets this time. Look forward to seeing you there.

Ugh. I totally missed it. I had a rough day on Wednesday saying goodbye to a family pet and forgot about this. I'm super bummed about that. I guess it gives me time to prep for next year. Thanks for offering to help me out though and I hope you didn't try too hard to find me in the crowds. I'm going to have to go stalk the threads and see what kind of pitches got liked.

  7. So sorry about your pet. That would have put anything else completely out of my mind, Natalie.

While I was moderating yesterday Pitch, another group called SlushPile Stories promoted their Pitch Party that's coming up. They shouldn't have done that, but oh well. Anyway, you might take a peek and see what there's is like.

Hey. How did it all go?

Lots of people pitching and lots of interest?

  9. We had 5100 posts and a lot of "hearts" from agents, publishers, and editors. I'm hoping authors will tell us if they land a contract. Each year this gets bigger.

Pitch Parties seem to be taking off. It seems like a way to put yourself out there without having to put yourself out there too much. If I had seen this sooner, I would have shared with my writer group. I'll look into the other you mentioned if I haven't missed that one too.

I don't quite understand the full benefits of pitch parties, or how to leverage them in the best way to get the results you want. Where can I go to find out more about this?

  12. We'll be hosting more since this last one had over 5000 posts and we trended most of the day.

Thanks for sharing that information about Slush Pile Stories. I'll have to check out their prompt party. (I'm sorry they were advertising when they shouldn't be though!) I went through and looked at the ISWGpit hashtag on Twitter to go read through prompts. There were some really great ones out there!

Thank you for the helpful information. I'm going to check that blog out asap. Even though I don't have any plans to be part of the Twitter pitch party right now, you never know what benefits I could get from it in the future.
