    I wonder how they counterweight each of the shelves going round to keep them level?

    I've always wanted a set of those movable library shelves on tracks that go back and forth.

    Don't know about the counterweight, but the guys who built a modern version used gears. If you want it for your flat, the compact model weighs 600lbs.

    It's amazing what you can do with a few planks of wood and that would look great in any library or museum on literature.

    I'd be a little worried about using it, but long legs and knees catch on that kind of thing.

    The only thing it is missing is the cup holder, so it stays in place as your books move around.
