Well, we are still receiving novels for review that are not on the site, despite conversations like this and the notice on the Review Policy page.

I do like @C. Lee McKenzie's suggestions, of giving the author a chance to read the review first, as we are going to be blunt and honest about it.

The review policy on paperbackraider makes a lot of sense. Is it worth trying to follow that?

Yes, I am aware this is me changing my mind.

Don't like pay-for-review but. We got so many people wanting reviews whose books aren't on the site'n'won't go for paperbackraider n' just spam us with their next title that we might as well charge 'em. Book on site = review free. Book not on site = Review $25, and no guarantee its positive. No adult titles.

  3. When you say adult titles, do you mean erotica or explicit sex or violence? Just curious.

  4. Kirkus has been reviewing since 1933! I didn't know they'd been around that long. Here's what they write to authors considering asking for a reviews. "...our reviews are written by qualified professionals, , nationally published journalists, creative executives and more. While we do not guarantee positive reviews, unfavorable reviews can be taken as valuable feedback for improvements and ultimately do not have to be published on our site. "

Isn't that the standard no erotica thing? It was something about the hosting IIRCo_O
