How do you all feel about a series? If you read the first one or two, are you compelled to read them all or are you willing to give it up if you're no longer enjoying it?

I enjoy reading them in general, but if the author meanders from the story or gets sloppy in their writing, I won't continue reading. I'll usually check reviews on Amazon and Goodreads to see if the author gets back on track. What about you Jordan?

I usually like reading series just because I like getting the chance to revisit a world I've fallen in love with. I'm usually disappointed by trilogies though. I think the second book is almost always lacking and just serves as a bridge between the first and last book. I usually find they could be a lot shorter than they are but are dragged out to be the length of a full book. That's not always the case, but I find it more often than not. I can drop a series after I've read a couple because sometimes, the world just isn't interesting enough for me to go on - but this usually happens in series where the books are standalone types.

I agree with you Natalie. I like to revisit those places I'm already familiar with until the series gets draggy and the author struggles with new situations. I did like the Eragon trilogy though. Very good read.

I think it has a little to do with my borderline OCD tendencies, but if I start on a series, I can't give up half-way no matter how awful the books are. I just always have to get to the last one.

I like finishing series cos I like to know the whole story:D. If they get silly or formula I stop reading. It feels like reading charactures, not characters, if you know what I mean?

I feel similarly. There's only a few series I've started that I never finished. In a few cases, I just haven't gotten there yet. With others, I only sort of enjoyed the first one and the second couldn't hold my attention.

And there are some that are so much fun I don't care how repetitive they may be. I'll read it to the last!
