    Prunes for Breakfast

    A touching and excellent memoir that doesn't sugarcoat the time period. Good for the casual reader, but history students should definitely pick this up as a source with first-hand content.

    I always enjoy reading a good memoir, especially when it it regarded as being more truthful and upfront about the times and like you said, not "sugarcoating" anything. I like the history angle too, and while I might not be a student it is still gets my interest up.
