We've just learned that there is a twitter account @iamthebookangel, which people were signing up for believing it to be us.

It is not. It has nothing to do with us.

They are using one of the images from our old site as a header, and something very close to our original bio. It may be pure co-incidence, but it is still far too close for comfort, and it seems to have confused at least one reader.

They were launched in May 2017. We have been running since 2009.

We have reported it to twitter, but if you have any problems with this group, please take it directly to twitter, as we cannot forward third party complaints to twitter. A news update will hit our site once we have more information.

    How can you help?

Please could any of you signed up to the newsletter and not following us on twitter sign up to follow @book_angel? It means there's less chance of confusion, and we'd welcome a show of support.

For the future, Twitter support has said that if we can get Verified it protects our ID on twitter. We have 5,814 followers. The docs suggest we need 10,000 to get Verified so this never happens again. We have 10,000 subscribers, so any chance of 6,000 by the end of the week?

Also authors or fans who have a Bookangel review they like, please mention it on your websites or via twitter. It all helps confirm we are who we say we are.

Our twitter started sending out instagram requests right after I reported the bug. @tirial tracked it to a third party app we are assuming was compromised, which she has reported and removed.

It isn't something either of us recognised, so we aren't sure how it ended up on there, but it is gone now. The twitter password and access has been changed.

5,958 Twitter followers currently, so we are on course for 6,000 by the end of the week. The reviews email, which has even more subscribers will also push out with our request later this week, so we will see how many followers come from that.

I saw the accounto_O. Aren't those the old header images from when the site was upgrading a few years ago?

Huh! Here's hoping twitter do something about it shortly.

Seems who ever they were stopped posting a little while ago as well. But still passing off like that.,

Good luck getting even more twitter followers.
