Scotland, 1832
Patrick Field has fled London and an unwanted engagement, preferring to hide away in Scotland rather than take part in his older brother’s dowry-pinching scheme. His trip is all it should be: hasty, anonymous, and uneventful – until he meets Miss Amelia Blake.
