The Plant-Based Diet is a whole-food diet that is based around minimizing and/or avoiding the consumption of meat products and dairy products – essentially any animal products or animal byproducts, and also highly refined/processed foods. It encourages the consumption of unrefined, whole plants and minimally refined plant-based foods. In other words, it is all about devouring vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, tubers, and legumes in their most natural state. As you have probably already guessed, the plant-based diet is a form of Veganism, however there are many variations of this way of eating, you can tailor the diet to suit your needs, likes and dislikes.
A plant-based diet centers around bringing back the good ole ways of eating. Humankind thrived for thousands of years on a plant-based diet, and despite what you may be thinking, it is a satisfying and tasty way of getting the vitamins and nutrients our bodies require. But rest assured, this does not mean that you will only be eating leafy greens and other veggies. While greens are an important component in a plant-based diet, they are not the only main source of energy. You may have heard several stories of failure from those who have tried out one of these diets, because they are under the assumption that leafy greens were the only main food source they should be consuming. This is not the case; a multitude of delicious food items make up the foundation of a plant-based diet not just your stock standard kale and broccoli!
