    If we wired in a credits system allowing users to get credits for well-thought out posts on reviews, contributing to the site, etc. would anyone be interested?

    These credits could then be traded between users, or used in a shop for items, probably ebooks, or possibly things like sidebar ads on the main site. We probably would not exchange credits for cash ourselves, as we simply don't have very much (The sponsor slots each month just about cover the running costs, now we've changed our set-up).

    Yes that would be a great idea actually. Since there isn't much cash, occasional giveaways would work better. I would say that some sort of a writing competition using those points would be great.

    I personally would love that. I know a lot of other people on this forum would, too. Especially the part about trading or exchanging the credits for a sidebar ad on the main site. That is a brilliant way to motivate others to join.

    Sounds like a good idea, seen it work nicely on other sites and can be fun to hand them around for good stuff.

    Getting creds for sponsor boxes on the main site could be a good way to get people to join in if they know they can get something for it.

    We looked at Dragonbyte credits, which doesn't seem to do quite what we want. Dragonbyte shop looks more promising. There are a few other credit systems available, so we may use one of those.

    Dragonbyte credits didn't do what we need. We tried [AD] credits, but it turns out it doesn't come with install instructions, our support request was ignored for five days (still no response) and they are heading for a one star. Apparently they want a second payment and full access to our server to install a product we already paid for. Not happening. There's a support ticket, which is their last chance not to be flagged scammers to everyone I build for.

    I'm back in hospital on Friday, so progress will be slow.

    Thank you. Credits are wired in and we are currently working on a set rate for them. Don't get too attached to your credits, as we will decide a start date in October and reset most of them to fit with the new charges.

    Are you going to give a list of what we get them for, or will it be a nice surprise?

    Well, if a Wallet tab has appeared once you log in, you should be able to start earning credits now. Most users will see Diamonds. There's a test group that will see a second currency. PM me if you see this.

    Thanks. We'll take over the testing from here and let you know how it goes. Should I be able to see everyone's wallets under their username? Shouldn't that be private?

    It is private. You're an admin. Users just get to see their own wallet under their name.

    I went away for a few days and now have a wallet tab with a shop on my dropdown. It seems I've also earned some in my absence, somehow. Aside from setting user titles, this has potential, doesn't it?

    If custom titles cost 100 diamonds it is going to cost a lot to get one. :(

    Not as long as you think. Right now the standard way to earn is:
    • 1 diamond for logging in each day
    • 1 for new posts over 20 words (with a bonus for longer good quality posts)
    • 3 for creating a new thread
    • 2 for getting a trophy.
    We haven't capped the earnings at the moment, since it is still in test. There are extra ways for members of some groups, e.g. the Writers Group to earn, and unique items will be available to certain groups of users (e,g, cross-over users from other sites).

    We were looking at tying this is with social shares, but we want to get it working first!
