One Little Book Two Big Heroes
Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are, undoubtedly, two of the most driven visionaries of our time. Somebody needed to write a comparative biographical book about them that could be read in an hour, obviously!
These two men have literally “changed the world” with their innovative ideas and their revolutionary companies.
This is a somewhat friendly comparison between Steve Jobs “the moody perfectionist artist” and Bill Gates “the laid back nerd guy.”
We will compare and contrast the principles, philosophies, upbringings, legacies, accomplishments and more!
Steve was the adopted misfit that broke all of the rules, did things his way and only his way while Bill was raised by his biological parents and didn’t get into much trouble. He was more of a “good kid.”
These men were both college dropouts, whom established their companies with the help of a best friend, and were also very great businessmen!
In the year 1955, the Earth and its lowly inhabitants are fortunate to be blessed with not just one, but two visionaries and innovators that will help pave its way and give it an elegant entrance to the modern times. What is more is that sometime in their lives, they were bound to cross each other’s paths and leave a mark in each other’s lives and the world.
Comparing these two men is like voicing a question that has been waiting to burst out of its box for such a long time. In fact, we have been subconsciously comparing these two men since the modern day an age and the presence of personal computers touched the way we live.
We know how these two men are such big rivals when it comes to the digital world. However, it is also such a wonder to realize that these two well-known rivals have several traits, approaches, and beliefs in common as well.
To compare Gates against Jobs is much like deciding whether to buy a Mac or a Windows PC. Both these men’s passion, style, and attitude can be seen on their company’s products. The devices that we are using now, in a way, represents what and how these men are without us noticing it.
It is that rich legacy that Jobs left us and the legacy that Gates is still trying to enrich further that compels me to make this comparison.
“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
~ Steve Jobs
“Patience is the key element of success.”
~ Bill Gates
