Brooklyn crime boss Carmine Cimoli has been accused of burning down his over-insured warehouse, and District Attorney Rhonda Battle is out for blood. Thwarted by her office’s bad warrant for his arrest for other nefarious crimes, Ms. Battle is determined to put the crime boss behind bars, and this time she has what looks like an airtight case: witnesses have identified him entering and leaving the building right before the blaze began, and forensics has found evidence in his car.
Claiming he has been framed, Carmine asks the blue blood, Harvard-educated attorney Harrison Fletcher, Jr. to help him prove his innocence. Recently fired from his position as Assistant DA by his boss after refusing to compromise his ethics for that bad warrant, Harry has good reason to want to see Ms. Battle fail and agrees to take the case.
Assisted by his beautiful and sexy wife and a scruffy, alcohol-loving, intuitive detective, Harry sets out to discover who set the fire and why. As what really happened that June night becomes clear, suspects die and evidence begins to disappear. With the defense’s case starting to crumble, Harry must find another way to prove Carmine’s innocence and to bring down his adversary. But will the plan work?
