Eletunji, The Shiny Elephant traverses the African Serengeti plain wearing
layers of colorful coats he has created for himself–defense mechanisms–each representing one of the self-deceptive lies he believes that keeps him victimized and controlled by subconscious forces. Along his travels, he encounters a series of plains animals, each of whom asks him about a particular color coat he is wearing, until he meets a small lizard. She teaches him how to foster his nurturing inner voice and divest his heavy coats, setting him free.

PLEASE NOTE: My book carries an important message in the back under Author’s Notes about the proposed Serengeti Highway.

If the highway moves forward as planned,it will have a devastating impact on the ecosystem. Many herd animals such as the wildebeest and zebra will be needlessly slaughtered due to the highway’s construction and its subsequent operation, which will cut directly through the herd animals’ annual migration paths. It will destroy a UNESCO world heritage site, thought to be the greatest example of biodiversity in the world, and give greater access to poachers. In researching the setting for my book, I discovered this distressing information and the book suddenly took on a higher purpose.

It is my goal, via the circulation of my book, to spread awareness about the proposed highway. I plan to donate a portion of my profits to SaveTheSerengeti.org, the only organization I know of that is fighting to stop the construction of the currently proposed highway (there is an alternative southern route that would circumvent the migration paths; read more about it in my book).
