It was a wet and dreary dawn in Mysterium, dressing the outside of the normally dark and dismal castle an even darker and more malevolent gray. Inside, however, business seems to go on as usual. Every now and then, the casual pedestrian (not that there are any in this neck of the woods) will see a white specter float up to stare out the second story window, or will hear an unearthly scream coming from behind the ornate wooden door.

To local residents, this castle is one of the most haunted in the entire Advent continent. Perched on top of a towering cliff, the four-story structure looked like it came straight out of some Halloween story. Its formidable towers pointed accusingly at the unrepentant skies, and the normally blue-green patch of grass around it has all but dried up.

As the early morning fog turned into a very light drizzle, a strand of light suddenly appeared from across the castle entrance. In about two seconds, it swelled into a column of light that speared through the gray clouds. It disappeared as suddenly as it had come, leaving two men behind. They were both clad in white armor, wearing pointed hats and carrying well-adorned walking sticks with a white crystal glowing on one end.

The grand doors to the haunted castle opened of their own accord, and the two men went in. They walked in hurried silence through the dusty hallways and staircases until they reached a room at the end of the fourth-floor corridor. This room was different from the rest of the castle — not only did it look like a well-tended room from some top-class inn; it actually resided in a pocket dimension of its own. Inside, seventy-five similarly-dressed men were waiting — in fact, they all looked so similar that the only way an observer can identify each is by the stray beard here and there and by the differences in their walking sticks….
