She married Jimmy Gallagher, when she was sixteen years old and went to live in Punkey Hollow beside her mother-in-law, Cassie. There she had five children, and became a devoted mother.
A new church came to town in 1912, and the church became important to them.
Her three daughters grew up and each one married a different type of man. The oldest girl, Gertie, married a man who was not dependable. Cassie described him as a “run around”. The middle daughter, Mary Jane, married a stable man, and he worked hard and saved his money. The youngest daughter, Little Dorethea, married the brother of the pastor at the new church. Each girl had her share of joy and problems.
