As one of the oldest survivors and participants in the 1969 Stonewall riots, a personal, accurate, eye-witness account of the raid and riots are rendered as the author saw them. He was one of the actual participants and the protagonists behind the 1969 Stonewall riots. He and his partner were involved in this history-making event forty-six years ago which was the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement in New York State. Between the raid, the riots, the arrest, and the New York Courts, they were victims of the system for three days. He was a personal acquaintance of Ed (the skull) Murphy, who was the bouncer-manager at the Stonewall the night of the raid and riots. A PBS Timeline of the Gay Rights Movement in the United States sets the stage in profiling the original Trailblazers, Pioneers, and unsung Heroes who paved the way for same-sex Marriage and Gay Equality.

The author was invited by PBS American Experience and the producers of “The Stonewall Uprising” Documentary during the documentary’s premier, April 21, 2011, to share his story as a patron and participant in the 1969 Stonewall raid and riots.
