In the spring of 1957, after an eccentric rancher passes away and no one shows up to claim his land, his juvenile delinquent neighbor convinces a reluctant classmate to skip school so they can explore the abandoned property. Working themselves into an uneasy friendship, the two discover the cryptic remains of a lifelong quest and set off to find for themselves what the old man had been looking for.
