It was the summer of 1963 when my world changed forever. Some for the better, some for the worse. But not in any way that I could have ever imagined.
Orrey Walker is the man of the house at eleven years old. He has sworn to himself and to his younger brother Petey that he will protect them from whatever monsters there may be lurking in the dark. Even if that monster is their mother.
Orrey knows there’s something terribly wrong with his mother. He is determined to love her no matter what, even when she makes that almost impossible to do. People close to the boys turn a blind eye to what’s right in front of them and it takes a stranger to do the right thing and help Orrey and Petey.
