There are a few solid reasons as to why nightmares scare us.
Firstly, they might reflect our deepest fears. Fears that we struggle to keep hidden, so that they never bother our inner peace in daily life.
Secondly, they might show us the dark side of the world we know. A horror movie watched, a horror book read or a real-life tragic experience, these could all project themselves into our nightmares, making us feel the horrible fake reality on our own fragile skin.
Thirdly, they represent signs.
Melissa Templeton had never given nightmares any thought or special attention. In her mind, she had numerous things to deal with, from the death of her parents, to her grandmother – the only person left for her -, to the future that awaited both of them. Nor did she pay any special attention to strange events that occured in her life, until the very moment a little, young girl appeared.
And, as in every paranormal event that has ever existed, the girl arrived along with many, many dark secrets, inevitably turning Melissa into a person who believed that nothing was impossible and everything was doubtful.
