Ever since Nel said yes to Vic’s proposal, life has been like a breath of fresh air. With Vic getting a part on the hit show, Midnight Forever, Nel has enough money to leisurely work at the yoga studio she now owns, but she barely gets to spend any time with Vic. They’ve been planning a weekend at Hillsdale, Michigan for weeks, but Nel would rather seduce Vic into a warm Los Angeles hideaway at home instead of wasted at a cottage in the Midwest. Since her new life with Vic, Nel can move on from her drinking days when she lived in Venice with a woman named Christine, and Christine’s numerous romantic partners. The last thing Nel wants is to fall back into that lifestyle. After Nel and Vic’s flight to Michigan, their warm summer vacation turns out to be a wash when a severe rainstorm approaches. When Vic and Nel get to the cottage, they don’t have much time to be intimate before Vic’s best friend and his girlfriend, the owner of the cottage, show up for their planned weekend hangout.
Little did Nel know that this whole time, Vic’s best friend, Cameron, is not someone she is meeting for the first time. Vic asks Cameron to be his best man at his and Nel’s wedding, which only makes it harder for Nel and Cameron to come out about their past relationship.
