Animals in Garfield is a novel – with a dash of poetry – taking a decisive, mythical plunge into the wonderful animal world; a world rifted by two monarchical orders: the Old Order and the New.
The animals of Garfield undertake a journey filled with strange, mystifying and incredible events: from the rising of one class to power, to the betrayal and usurping of the same out of influence; the selfless sacrifice of one, to the infamy of another.
Animals now extinct and those still thriving occupy the roles of governance, and the book gives a fictitious account of the events leading to the demise of some species now absent from the surface of the Earth. It encompasses themes of warfare, love, romance and politics, and addresses the capricious natures and pathological behaviours of competing beasts and how these are used for good and bad.
The setting is abstract. The Old Order and the New Order stand tall – the latter straining to give birth to the Kingdom of Garfield.
