John Henry is a gifted cryptographer, recruited by ECHELON, a five state surveillance program formed in the cold war. He joins a research team with a shared pattern of brain injury, which unlocks unique mental abilities and a powerful connection with a universal consciousness. ECHELON are intercepting extra-terrestrial signals, capable of affecting human behavior. Unknown to John Henry, ECHELON intend to decipher the signals, to implement a regime of controlled thought, and create a global utopia. A resistance group, enlightened to the alien consciousness, are a threat to ECHELON. John Henry must infiltrate the group, but revelations, answers, and an enigmatic beauty, test his resolve to the limit.
