“Burials” is the first in a series of related short-stories of a family that lived in the segregated south during the 1960’s. This story is told from the point of view of Carmen, a girl who has just lost her brother in the Viet Nam War. This family is dealing with grief as well as the prejudice they have to face every day of their lives.
For those of us who lived it, this story is powerful, speaking on one of the saddest chapters in American history. And, still for others these words speak to emotions that they did not know existed. Truly, this is a story of loss, the indignities of racism as well as pride.
Other stories in the series will be released periodically throughout the year.
