Dreaming of Waking Up is a book made up of poems and short stories. Together they all contribute to a central theme and convey a message. My book is not just a mere collection of poems and short stories; it is a concept book, like a concept album, but in the form of a book, the multiple pieces make up one cohesive work. It has an overarching theme of childhood, growth and loss of innocence. It’s structured in such way where each individual writing builds upon the next; to take the reader on a journey. It’s hard for me to categorize this book but I believe this falls into Literary Fiction, as this book is an expression of myself and the world around me.
