Piyali Banerjee is nineteen. Her penniless mother is dying of cancer and wants to see her married before that. Piyali has dreams of a career, of independence, of earning enough to support herself and her mother well and of hopefully someday in a distant future marrying a man as good as Mukundo. But what good will come of her dreams if her mother dies unhappy?
She would have turned to her friend, philosopher and guide, Mukundo Thakur, for help except that he has also become part of her problem.
Must she choose between sacrificing either her dreams or her mother’s dying wish?
