Love is for people the same way the sun is for plants: they bloom under its warmth and wither or even succumb in its absence. Love awakens so much hope and expectations in us, stirs our souls and imprisons our hearts and, because of that, it disappoints us so often. The power of love protects and restores our mental health as it gives meaning to our lives: it makes us feel alive, that we are somebody, we feel worthy, special and unique. People fight for love from the moment they are brought into this world and until the moment they turn to dust, guided by a deep thirst of affection and validation. If this need is not fulfilled, they are miserable. Without love, our lives are empty and meaningless.
Do not give your heart to just anybody, not until you are sure what they’ll do with it: will they cherish and take care of it, or will they throw it away? There is a time to seek and there is a time to count as lost.
