vigor&belle is a lifestyle brand for healthy eating and beauty that can change the way you live your life. Whenever we eat, and no matter what we eat, our body needs to break down the food so we can absorb it. The rate at which our bodies can break down food is measured via a glycemic index. Foods such as glucose have a high glycemic index, and it doesn’t take very long for the body to break those foods down. Foods with a low G.I (Glycemic index) such as lentils, seeds, and nuts, take longer to break down. The G.I is important, because it can and does affect our blood sugar levels, and ultimately how much insulin the blood contains. If your body contains a lot of the hormone known as insulin, your blood will not contain very much glucose. This means that you’re likely to crave sugary foods, and feel lethargic. What’s more is having high levels of insulin can also slow down the rate at which your body burns fat. This potentially means you’re a lot less likely to lose weight than some people, and you may even end up gaining weight.

Insulin helps to control the levels of glucose in our blood. It also works to regulate how we store fat, and how we use the sugar that is found in the foods we eat. If we don’t have enough insulin in our bodies, we cannot get the energy we need from the glucose that is found in our blood. This results in our body taking energy from other parts of our body.

If you develop, or are likely to develop insulin resistance, your body won’t respond to insulin as it ordinarily should. This means you are more likely to develop high blood sugar levels and this can lead to type 2 diabetes. Symptoms of insulin resistance can include:

oHunger
oLethargy
oHigh blood pressure
oDifficulties in concentration

The insulin resistance diet, is a diet that has been formulated to ensure you eat fewer high G.I foods, and instead enjoy eating low G.I foods that will leave you feeling for longer, and even help you to burn fat quicker. Low G.I foods will result in your blood containing more glucose, and when this happens, the pancreas will release insulin. This insulin with get rid of any excess glucose in your body, and will therefore help you to burn fat, perhaps quicker than you ever have before.
The weight loss associated with this diet is just one of the reasons why more and more people are eating low G.I foods. Let’s look at the Insulin Resistance diet in a little more detail.
