Ness lives in Castle Pines where the only place to buy music is a makeshift record store run by her older friend Jill. Ness wants to be a folk singer, like her mom, and just like her hero Joni Mitchell.
The town has a troubled past. Many years ago Old Jacobson’s wife went missing. Some say she ran away, most think she never got the chance. In the small town of Castle Pines, folks believe there is a winged creature that comes out of the forest, a darkness named the Mothman. The local diner sells cherry pie to anyone wanting to sit and tell high tales of sightings of the Mothman.
The other high schoolers don’t get Ness. They think folk music is weird and that Ness is even weirder. But for some reason, the hottest guy in school has just shown interest in Ness. Until recently, Ness had no interest in guys like him. But that was before he was interested in her.
When Ness has a chance encounter with an old lady who’s seemingly obsessed with objects of death, she discovers an ability to see beyond what is in front of her. But is she seeing reality? Is she being conned? Or is she in danger now that she can tap into another plane of existence?
One thing is for sure, the Mothman of town legend is now aware of Ness. And he has taken particular interest in her. She can run from her troubles, but she can no longer hide.
