2. Something; event, phenomenon, etc that baffles or eludes the understanding and cannot be explained for the time being.
3. Any that arouses suspense or curiosity because of an obscure or unknown, enigmatic quality.
4. The state or quality of being inexplicable, obscure or enigmatic.
