As an investigative reporter, April Longmont’s latest assignment is to interview Melvin Woodruff, the richest man in the county. Usually she enjoys her interviews, but something about this crusty old man grates on her nerves. Being uneasy, April asks private detective Clay Augustine to accompany her to the next interview.
During the interview, the ailing Woodruff, promises April a surprise…
“I need to be alone for a while, but tomorrow morning I will surprise and shock you, Ms. Longmont. Then you can surprise and shock your readers. Shock the foundations of Sea Oak for that matter…all of the secrets, all of the secrets will come out tomorrow morning.”
