‘My Bunny-Mate’ is a subtle exploration of health and well-being through the silliest of giggly conversations. A young boy, with the very best of intentions, is determined to ‘take care’ of his newest friend, his bunny-mate, only to make some HUGE errors along the way. Hmmm – who will set him straight? None other than his straight-shooting ‘firm but fair’, bunny-mate.
“I’ll walk you every day, I will!” Hmmm …are you sure about that?
“You’ll bark at post-men, Lou and Stew!” …Will I now?
“We’ll have to stop to pick up ‘drops’.” …Please, don’t do that!
“I’ll feed you lots of lollies, YAY!” …Oh my!
“I’ll tuck you tightly into bed” …I think we need to talk, mate.
These two chatty characters discuss a range of ridiculous situations. Truth be told though; they’re very subtle health, food, lifestyle, exercise, and sleep messages in disguise… all without the annoying ‘preachy’ tone.
This boy and his bunny-mate certainly teach each other a thing or two along the way, and arrive at their own conclusions in the process. Before long, the boy discovers the true and ‘primal’ nature of his bunny-mate, and starts to make the connection to his own life.
This book leaves LOADS of room for grown-ups to have ‘those chats’ about health, food, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and lifestyle with their kids. You should feel free to take the conversation in ANY direction that you desire… or simply enjoy the tale of two new friends; a boy, and his bunny-mate.
Recommended Age: You might choose to read this book to a new-born baby, or introduce it to a ‘new reader’ between the ages of 4-10.
Suitable for both boys and girls.
Author Bio: Charby Ibrahim is the man behind ‘The Ancestral Body’ – Nutrition and Health Coach, Personal Trainer, Teacher, and Writer. A graduate of The University of Melbourne, The Institute For Integrative Nutrition, and The Australian Institute of Personal Trainers, he has written countless articles for prominent on-line publications and blogs, is a proud member of Physical Activity Australia, and engages in education programs at local schools, The Royal Children’s Hospital, and various workplaces across the country. Charby co-hosts one of Australia’s top health and wellness pod-casts, ‘The Primal Shift’, and has recently started producing his very own health and wellness TV Show – ‘The Ancestral Body’.
Charby’s journey has been a personal one from the outset. Before making the shift into the health, wellness, and fitness world, he spent over a decade in education; everything from the traditional classroom setting, volunteer and ESL work abroad, to years of designing and developing alternative curriculum at The Foundation for Young Australians. There was one not so minor problem over this time though; Charby ignored his physical and emotional health for far too long in the line of service. He went back to school and back to ‘Eating Real Food’, lost a stack of fat, got fit, and is now using his own life skills, experience, and research, on-top of his passion for education, to help others find the combination of lifestyle factors that best suit their needs.
