The author explains effective way of talking to children so that children want to communicate with their parents. This is though using good body language, facial expression and to focus only on them, this way children will feel that parents are interested in what they have to say and that is when actual communication starts!
These practical advice and experiences were gathered through parenting three children, studying and researching for Degree and Masters and teaching children and teenagers. The personal and professional experiences may support parents to understand different ways to support their children succeed in education and in life. These aspects parent may think are not important to their children lives, nevertheless reading through this book will allow parents to understand the holistic approach in helping their children to succeed.
There are eight chapters in this book and in each chapter, there are important aspect which are discussed. For example, chapter one and two discusses belief system, it provides clear interpretation as to what it means and how children’s belief system can determine their success in life. Chapter three discusses how parents can raise their children’s confidence through praising them and focusing on positive behaviour rather than negative. Chapter four enables parents to acknowledge what they can and should do, to be their children’s role model. Chapter five talks about organisation and how this skill supports children in their education as well as other aspects of life. Chapter six facilitates parents in understanding that good health and relationships plays an important part in their children’s lives and chapter seven discusses the importance of parents attending, parents and teacher conference even if their children are doing very well at school. The last chapter is on environment, the book encourages parents to get to know their child environment, that is not just the home and school, but also their friends, who they talk to online and offline, TV programme they watch, the games they play, all these are a part of children’s environment.
