A trawling fishing boat’s net brings up a man’s body in a rectangular concrete block, only his head is showing. The block with body is transferred to the Scotland Yard morgue, where Sherlock Holmes carefully studies and then samples the concrete block, while Watson examines the exposed head. Holmes’s astonishing powers of observation and logical reasoning allow him to identify the perpetrators of this terrible crime, who are speedily arrested. After arrest and under the tutelage of Police Inspector Lestrade they “sing like canaries” and confess The ringleader is tried and hanged, while the others receive long prison sentences. Justice is done and the case is closed.

This Sherlock Holmes story won a contest, and has 5 stars on Amazon.com. It and my other Sherlock Holmes stories are described and linked on Philduke.weebly.com. If you like reading Sherlock Holmes detective murder mysteries you will enjoy reading this story, and its two continuation stories that are also about bodies in concrete. My Sherlock Holmes stories are all written in the Victorian style of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Good reading to you!
