This is a love story based on true events and woven around the early days of the Beatles in Hamburg, Germany. It centres on the love at first sight relationship between Stuart Sutcliffe, an early member of the group and Astrid Kirchherr, a young German who came to see the band early on. The relationship between Stuart and John Lennon is also brought to light, with regards to his influence on John and the band. The group’s progress from rookies to veterans at a young age is also described along with the appalling conditions they put up with at the start.
The tragic ending, based on the true story, with the death of Stuart, is told and how this may have spurred John on to leading the Beatles to the phenomenal, worldwide success they enjoyed just a year or two later.
