“The Hand She Dealt to Me” is a dialogue-driven, adult fiction novel, about family, love, romance, friendship, mystery, suspense, betrayal and fraud, with an ethnic slant and a hint of humor. The story revolves around Pauline (Lia) Roma, a happily married woman and mother, living in Brooklyn, New York with her husband Steven, a successful pharmacist, and her daughter Julia, an aspiring actress, whose life is turned upside down and inside out by an innocent encounter in the park with a mysterious female named Amira. This innocent encounter takes Lia on a life-changing journey that draws her into a world of the unknown; something she is so curious to dip into, yet so terrified to embrace. This constant battle to go either way sucks Lia into a world of new discovery, where she learns the importance of trust, the existence of deceit and betrayal, the support of friendship and family, and the power of love. “Danger” slowly introduces itself to Lia and her family as they all begin to fall deeper into its relentless grip. Their innocence and family values work against them, until the criminal aspect of that fateful encounter in the park turns their reality into their revenge.
