To the outside world, I had the perfect life: I was successful in my job in investment banking, I earned a lot of money, had nine weeks of paid holidays per year, had a lot of friends, and was regarded attractive. The only problem was, I was incredibly unhappy and nobody understood why. Not my friends, not my partners, certainly not my parents – not even my therapist!
There was a sadness that came from deep inside, and the strange feeling that I was living other people’s dream’s but certainly not the life I wanted to be living –my own!
To quit my job and my life was the best decision I have ever made. I replaced the sadness with peace and contentment, and that makes me happier than the highest bonus ever could. The journey to get there was hard. I cleaned up my past, made peace with the bad things that had happend in my life, and filled the (then) vacant space with joy and happiness; that is how I healed my life. It is not perfect (nothing in life is)…it is not a fairy tale or fictional story…but it is a true story, and everything happened exactly as described in this book.
