Promise, wakes up one Saturday morning yearning to go with her classmates to Astroworld, an amusement theme park. The problem is her Brother’s funeral is also on the same day. Pete is a serial rapist turned murderer known as the “Leaky Eye.”

Years later while in a mental hospital for killing her child, she recounts the experience of that bus ride, and her life afterward in a series of letters to her childhood friend LaKeisha Ann. The letters–some short, some long missives, are at times funny, poignant, bitter, and dark.
