Earth has long since faded into myth. Humans found a new home in the Eden star system and have forgotten the dark secret that almost led to their extinction. But their past has come back to haunt them and, this time, humanity may not survive.
The story begins on Panaeus, one of the three habitable planets in the Eden star system. It is a harsh and inhospitable world, but one full of natural resources. That fact makes it highly sought after by governments, businesses, and criminals alike.
There have been wars fought over the planet before, but for the moment an uneasy peace has settled across the world, broken only by occasional raids from the various criminal and terrorist organizations hiding in the many deserts and badlands scattered across Panaeus.
Rumor exist of a new threat looming on Panaeus: the Revenants, soulless machines ravaging settlements and cities with no reasonable purpose. James Fischer, a former agent for the Anti-Terrorist Bureau on Panaeus, has spent the last two years searching for the Revenants. For all his searching he has yet to find a single one.
But when an ancient alien ruin is found that speaks of an unknown power, the Revenants come out of the shadows and attack, killing the research team and taking the site for their own.
Now Fischer is caught up in a race against time. For if the Revenants get their hands on the alien power, human life in the entire system would be at risk. However, as he gets closer to his goal, the lines between who is good and who is bad become increasingly blurred.
Left not knowing who to trust, Fischer is forced to unravel the mystery of the chamber on his own. And he finds that the chamber is not the only thing keeping secrets.
